THE ROLE

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and professional candidate to join our Montreal based team as Controller. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, based in the Lynge office in Denmark, the candidate will play a central role in the company. Acting as a financial strategic business partner, the candidate will be responsible for the planning, management and turnover of accounting activities, supervising a team of 3 people.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hire, train and retain qualified accounting and finance personnel.
  • Manage end-to-end accounting operations and ensures the accuracy of the financial data of the monthly and annual financial statement process.
  • Develop and enforce policies, procedures and internal control rules for accounting and Canadian auditing standards.
  • Oversee the payroll process ensuring compliance with all federal, provincial, state and other applicable taxes and regulations.
  • Perform various analyses and forecasts, planning inventory levels, meeting financial and management ratios, identifying budget variances, cost optimization and revenue enhancement opportunities.
  • Drive the budgeting process, engaging with department heads to ensure realistic and forward-looking budget planning.
  • Manage the company’s cash flow, ensuring invoicing and accounts payable are processed accurately and on time.
  • Facilitate audits and proper filing of tax returns in collaboration with external partners.
  • Identify and manage business risks and insurance requirements.
  • Recommend improvements to automate monthly financial reporting and analysis, and to ensure the integrity of corporate financial information.
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of relationships with private investors, banks and insurers.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting combined with a CPA title
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position
  • Bilingualism: French and English mandatory, both spoken and written
  • Knowledge of integrated accounting systems (ERP) and technology tools, experience with Business central an asset
  • Experience working for an international manufacturing company
  • Experience in a multi-currency and multi-company environment
