2020 Track World Championships Recap
The 2020 Track World Championships wrapped up on Sunday March 1st, and Argon 18 bikes once again shone!
This year, three Federations were riding Argon 18: the Canadian, Australian and Danish teams. All three showed great form as they continue along the road to Tokyo this summer.
Cycling Denmark
NEW WORLD CHAMPIONS!
The Danes broke the world record in the team pursuit three times in three races! Winning the gold medal almost seemed an afterthought to thoroughly smashing the clock.
Lasse Norman Hansen, Julius Johansen, Frederik Rodenberg Madsen and Rasmus Pedersen became the first quartet to cover the 4km distance under 3:45, clocking in at 3:44.672.
Denmark’s medals:
Gold – Men’s Team Pursuit - Lasse Norman Hansen, Julius Johansen, Frederik Rodenberg and Rasmus Pedersen
Gold – Men’s Madison - Lasse Norman Hansen and Michael Mørkøv
Cycling Australia
Although Australia came out of the Track Cycling World Championships without a gold medal for the first time in 12 years, Australian Cycling Team Performance Director Simon Jones remains focused on the team's overall strategy to ensure success at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Moreover, we were able to see the Australians on their new 2020 Electron Pro in full preparation for this summer's Olympics.
Australia finished with three medals:
Silver - Women's Team sprint - Kaarle McCulloch and Steph Morton.
Bronze - Women's Keirin - Steph Morton.
Bronze - Men’s Team sprint - Nathan Hart, Matthew Richardson and Thomas Cornish.
Cycling Canada
Canada finished the competition with three fourth places and two fifth places, with Canadian athletes Allison Beveridge, Jasmin Duehring, Annie Foreman-Mackey and Georgia Simmerling setting a new national record in the women's team pursuit!
