2019 and later production frames / Pre-2019 frames

With the introduction of the XS frame in 2019, running changes were made on all sizes of the Electron Pro Rio frames (Sprint and Pursuit).

These changes included the addition of a 65T chainring clearance seatstay notch on all sizes. This modification impacted different parts of the assembly, including longer dropouts and an updated chain tensioner system.

2019 and later frames interior dropout plate features:

  • Longer for more chainstay length adjustability
  • Different hole pattern to fit new dropout length
  • New chain tension retention surface texture
  • Thicker plate (2.5mm instead of 2mm)
  • Not compatible with pre-2019 frames

2019 and later frames exterior dropout plate features:

  • Longer for more chainstay length adjustability
  • Different hole pattern to fit new dropout length
  • Identical thickness as pre-2019 plate
  • Not compatible with pre-2019 frames

2019 and later frames chain tensioner system

As of 2019, along with the dropouts, the chain tensioner system was also replaced on all Electron Pro Rio frame sizes. This newer system consists of two specially textured washers which engage with the dropout plates. Chain tension is manually adjusted instead of using a screw.

Dropout and chain tensioner system replacement parts:

As dropout plates and chain tensioner systems are different and not compatible between Electron Pro Rio frames manufactured in 2019 or later, and pre-2019 models, it is important to order the proper replacement parts for the frame you own.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to measure your current dropout plate to identify which replacement parts should be ordered.

2019 and later

Owners of 2019 or later Electron Pro Rio frames (Sprint or Pursuit) should order the following parts to replace the dropout and chain tensioner system:

2 x 81048 – INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR REAR DROPOUT PLATES, SCREWS AND CHAIN TENSIONER (1 complete kit per side)

Pre-2019

Owners of pre-2019 Electron Pro Rio frames (Sprint or Pursuit) should order the following parts to replace the dropout and chain tensioner system:

2 x 80601 – INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR REAR DROPOUT PLATES + SCREWS (1 kit per side)

1 x 35987 – CHAIN TENSIONER SYSTEM (Kit of 2, good for both sides)
